The EP Committees did not approve ACTA

After votes in four parliamentary committees, MEPs did not support the International Anti-Counterfeiting Agreement (ACTA). The parliamentary committees on Development (DEVE), on Civil Liberties (LIBE), Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and Legal Affairs (JURI), where the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) votes were decisive, recommended rejecting the ambiguous agreement. May EP plenary: deteriorating relations with Ukraine, Eurovision song contest in Azerbaijan

MEPs presented their recommendations on the EUSR for HR

Today the European Parliament`s Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted a recommendation to the Council on the appointment and responsibilities of the EU Special Representative for Human Rights just before the Council approves the candidate in June. The main Rapporteurs of the document were the largest EP Conservative Group (EPP), meanwhile the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) was represented by Coordinator in the Subcommittee on Human Rights Leonidas Donskis. Short EP plenary session: Europe Day, implementation of the EU budget, price reduction

On Wednesday and Thursday MEPs gathered for another plenary session; however, this time in Brussels rather than Strasbourg, where one of the four EP short plenary sessions foreseen for this year took place.
