Six years imprisonment for speaking the truth on Tibet

Yesterday, the film by Dhondup Wangchen "Leaving Fear Behind" was screened in an event organised by Leonidas Donskis and the NGO International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) in the European Parliament in Brussels. This 25 minutes documentary by the self-taught Tibetan filmmaker reveals the personal tragedy of Dhondup Wangchen and the overall situation of human rights in Tibet. (Read more...)

In January EP session Lithuanian Presidency in focus for the last time

In the first Strasbourg plenary session of 2014, the six month long Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council officially finished. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite presented the results of the Presidency term in a debate with Members of the European Parliament and in the presence of the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso. EP written declaration recognises the role of libraries

During the second half of 2013 the MEP Leonidas Donskis signed a number of EP written declarations from various spheres, like culture, digital competence, health, fight with racism and other forms of hatred. Support for the protesters in Kiev from Strasbourg

This week the Members of the European Parliament gathered in Strasbourg for the last time in 2013. Traditionally, in its December session the EP focuses on human rights, but this year only the vote on the Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy in the World and on other human rights instruments took place in December.
