EU-Turkmenistan Relations: Human Rights and Economic Interests

On January 26, the EP Foreign Affairs committee had a discussion on whether to strengthen the EU relations with Turkmenistan. The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States and Turkmenistan was signed in 1998, however, the ratification process has not been finalised. One of the main reasons is an unsatisfactory human rights situation in Turkmenistan. (Read more...)

EP Discusses the Need to Re-consider its Approach to Belarus

"You have a key to my father`s liberation", - said Eva Nyaklyaeva, the daughter of jailed Belarusian presidential candidate, Uladzimir Nyaklyaev, with these words calling the EP and the entire EU urgently take all necessary actions in order to free all persons imprisoned after the events on the 19th of December, 2010 and reconsider it`s policy towards Belarus.
