Study: Lithuanian zoos do not meet even the minimum requirements

All five currently operating zoos in Lithuania do not meet even the minimum requirements of the EU or national wildlife protection laws. Such a conclusion was made on Wednesday in the European Parliament (EP) during the seminar on the EU Zoo Inquiry 2001 report, which also looked into Lithuanian zoos.  (Read more...)

Tolerance without clichés and banalities

This was the theme of the talks with students from the Vilnius “Minties” gymnasium and other schools which MEP Leonidas Donksis visited on May 19th during his short stay in Lithuania. L. Donskis, D. Kuolys, and H Mickevicius call to stop Lithuania`s transformation into a police state

Lithuania has come to a dangerous boundary which distinguishes a democratic republic from a police state. The country`s secret services and law enforcement agencies, instead of defending the constitutional order which is based on human rights and freedom, often take an arbitrary position and pose a threat to democracy.
