It has already become a tradition that the second half of February, when no sessions in the European Parliament take place, Leonidas Donskis designates for an intensive tour of different Lithuanian cities and meetings with the public. This year Leonidas Donskis will visit Zarasai, Visaginas, Ignalina, Švenčionys, Plungė, Plateliai, Gargždai, Klaipėda, Kaunas and Vilnius. The focus of L. Donskis` trips is the presentation of L. Donskis` book "Lithuanian Liberalism II", which is a sequel of "Lithuanian Liberalism", published in the USA more than 50 years ago, organised in the libraries of various cities and towns, as well as debates on "Liberal values and political dialogue". During the meeting Leonidas Donskis will present the forthcoming book and try to answer the question of whether Liberal answers are able to respond to the questions raised by the European crises or Lithuania. He will also try to provoke the public by asking what are other alternative ideologies that could replace the Liberal one by providing better solutions in a current situation.
The continuation of Liberal debates, "Lithuanian Liberalism II," sensitively reacts to dilemmas, crises and existential questions of this period. Lithuanian cultural and political liberals, namely Leonidas Donskis, Eugenijus Gentvilas, Egidijus Aleksandravičius, Darius Kuolys, Mykolas Drunga, Ramūnas Vilpišauskas, Gintautas Mažeikis, share their insights about today`s Lithuania in this book. There are also ideas about Liberals and this period presented by more conservative ideologists, such as Vladimiras Laučius, Andrius Navickas, and representing the left Rasa Baločkaitė, in the selection of articles.
"Lithuanian Liberalism II" will be officially presented at the Vilnius Book Fair on 24 February. Those who will attend the meeting with Leonidas Donskis in Zarasai, Visaginas, Ignalina, Švenčionys, Plungė, Plateliai and Gargždai, will get an excellent opportunity to be the first ones to see this new book and to discuss their concerns with the one of the book`s authors and creators.
Leonidas Donskis will also arrange meetings with teachers in Klaipėda, will participate in a film review about professor Zygmunt Bauman in Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, alongside meetings in Vilnius. He will finish his visit to Lithuania with the intensive programme in the Vilnius Book Fair, where he will not only present his two new books but will also participate in debates, and interact with the visitors of the Fair.
